Originally called 'Italian Vegetable Marrow' this heirloom zucchini was first mentioned as being grown in American gardens in 1863. Although squash is native to the Americas, the Italians perfected this one.
Bush type plant considered the best by those who love green squash. Pale green skin with dark green stripes maintains tenderness even when large. Rich and nutty flavor.
Plant seed outdoors after danger of frost is past or start indoors 4-6 weeks earlier. Traditionally plants in hills (a ring of 3-5 seeds). Seeds can also be planted in rows or large pots. Cover seed with 1/2 inch of fine soil. Thin to allow each plant 2-3 square feet.
Germinates in 7-14 days depending on weather.
Keep fruits picked for continuous harvest.
